Education: Pre-engineering studies, Ohio State University, 1961-63; B.S. (math major - physics minor) University of Memphis, 1965; twelve months of post-undergraduate study in meteorology at St. Louis University, 1966-67; J.D., University of Memphis School of Law, 1973.

 Military Background: Commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force through Officer Training School, 1966; Weather Officer, 196770, with duty at Blytheville AFB, AR in support of the Strategic Air Command, and one year in Southeast Asia in Thailand/Vietnam (1969-70); Weather Officer, Tennessee Air National Guard, 1971-83; Manpower Requirements Reserve Officer, Selective Service System, 1983-92; Squadron Officer School, 1979; Air Command & Staff College, 1982. Retired in February, 1994, with the rank of Lt. Colonel with 28 years of military service.

 Military Decorations: Joint Service Commendation Medal; Air Force Commendation Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Armed Forces Reserve Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; & Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

I retired from the Postal Service on December 3, 1999, with almost 19 years of service and over 31 years of total Federal service..
